95th Street Farmers Market Mural

Elaine Miller (center), of Beverly, celebrates at the ribbon cutting for her new mural at 95th Street and Longwood Drive on Sept. 10 during the 95th Street Farmers Market. Measuring about 100-feet long by 14-feet tall, the colorful mural depicts the local community’s transition from a rural landscape to an urban neighborhood. The creation of the mural was supported by the Beverly Arts Center (BAC), which is taking part in the Chicago Architecture Biennial and unveiled its “Elevation” exhibit on Sept. 17. Joining Miller are BAC Board Vice President Ed Laginess (from left), BAC Board Member David Fletcher, BAC Board President Barbara O’Malley, 95th Street Business Association Executive Director Erin Ross, BAC Board Secretary Katie Baffes Coderre and BAC Interim Executive Director and Artistic Director Shellee Frazee.
